Congratulations to He Toki Ki Te Mahi
Te Putahitanga o te Waipounamu is really proud to be one of the supporting partners for a new initiative, Te Toki ki te Mahi.
Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu know that whānau are a vital resource for supporting apprentices through the training journey. Chairman Norman Dewes says it was very impressed by Te Toki ki Te Mahi Trust’s application to run a programme to enable Māori to enter the construction industry.
“The venture draws on a collaborative partnership which will work with whānau, sharing knowledge, capabilities and networks so on that basis we are happy to provide funding support,” said Mr Dewes.
Spokesman Hemi Inia says it will create 50+ new employment opportunities for Māori apprentices and support them through to completion of their apprenticeship.
“The aim of the new Maori apprenticeship model is that it seeks to support leadership and success for whānau in the trades industry, by capitalising on the increased demand and flexibility of the Canterbury rebuild for Māori apprentices”.
