About Our Funding

WHAT IS AN ORA Investment Application?

ORA is an acronym for the Opportunity to Realise your Aspirations. Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu wants to support whānau to realise their aspirations through this fund.

ORA Funding recognises whanau as navigators of their own destiny. The fund aims to help whanau become empowered to fulfil their dreams and aspirations, become culturally connected, thriving and contributing members of their communities.

Te Pūtahitangawork on behalf of the nine iwi in Te Waipounamu and have worked with whanau to develop a funding  framework called Seven Pou which is designed to achieve specific Whanau Ora outcomes. Initiatives must also demonstrate a kaupapa Māori approach, e.g. whānau centred, use of te reo Māori, incorporation of mātauranga Māori, inclusion of te ao Māori values, collaboration with other Te Putahitanga initiatives.

Your innovation should align with one or some of the Seven Pou from the Whanau Ora Framework outlined below:

  1. Whānau in Te Waipounamu are self-managing

  2. Whānau in Te Waipounamu living healthy lifestyles

  3. Whānau in Te Waipounamu are participating fully in society

  4. Whānau in Te Waipounamu are confidently participating in Te Ao Māori

  5. Whānau in Te Waipounamu are economically secure and successfully involved in wealth creation

  6. Whānau in Te Waipounamu are cohesive, resilient and nurturing

  7. Whānau in Te Waipounamu are responsible stewards of their living and natural environments.
