Wāhine Māori, It is time to make your health a priority and book a cervical screening test today!
“Put yourself first and make your health a priority. Be here for your tamariki and your mokopuna” is the message from Katarina McLean-Nutira, Kaikōkiri Hauora in our Aroā workstream. As a cervical cancer survivor herself, Katarina is personally invested in ensuring the health needs of wāhine Māori are regularly taken care of. Working alongside Screen South, He Wake Tapu and the #smearyourmea campaign, she has organised a series of regular free clinics where wāhine Māori can attend a cervical screening appointment in a comfortable and welcoming environment.
If you’re overdue for your smear, take this video as inspiration to make an appointment and get checked for you and your whānau.
Our Aroā workstream is focused on improving the health and wellbeing of whānau. We want to help whānau in Te Waipounamu overcome barriers to the availability, accessibility, affordability and appropriateness of healthcare. Find out more about the Aroā work stream here.
